  18. I'm moving from a W98 laptop to a WXP laptop.
  19. Have successfully installed K95 2.1.3, Telnet and SSH connections
  20. work as normal.  I can't however seem to get dial-up (out) to work
  21. properly.
  22. I was using an external Multitech modem with the old laptop (best of
  23. all worlds except convenience.) The new laptop has ,of course,
  24. integrated modem (win-modem I presume) I am trying to use.  I am able
  25. to successfully dial out connect and
  26. login to a remote (Unix) system using HyperTerm.  With K95 I get a
  27. rather strange result.  First I tried to convert my connection script,
  28. just change the
  29. modem name from Multitech to Smart_Link_56K_Modem. This failed as I
  30. will describe below.  It is also a rather big and messy script so I
  31. decided to first create a straight forward situation.  In the K95
  32. dialer I cloned the
  33. Template: Dialup - VT100 and made the minimum changes for my
  34. connection
  35. (phone number, scoansi, etc) Same result.  I have also tried from the
  36. Kermit
  37. command line with same result.

  39. It dials, and connects (with HyperTerm get login and am able to),
  40. Nothing appears on the screen although the little modem Icon shows
  41. inbound traffic.  To shorten the story I am able to login blind, but
  42. nothing
  43. appears on the screen, No echo of keystrokes and no display of traffic
  44. sent from remote machine, although the little modem Icon shows both
  45. outbound and inbound activity. and I can verify the login by checking
  46. remote logs from
  47. another machine.

  49. I'd like to attach the external modem, but this new Laptop has no
  50. serial port.

  52. I presume some flow control or similar parameter is the problem, but
  53. after
  54. some fooling around without success, I decided to ask for help here.
